How to Get a Vanuatu Passport
There are two primary pathways to obtaining a Vanuatu passport:
- By Birth or Descent: Individuals born in Vanuatu or those with at least one parent who is a Vanuatu citizen may acquire citizenship.
- By Citizenship by Investment (CBI): The country operates a government-approved citizenship by investment program known as the Vanuatu Development Support Program.
Vanuatu Passport Requirements
To apply for a Vanuatu passport, the following requirements must be met.
For natural-born or descent-based citizens:
- Completed passport application form
- Original birth certificate or proof of citizenship
- National ID or other government-issued photo ID
- Two passport-sized photos
- Police clearance certificate (if applicable)
- Payment of the passport fee

- Copy of medical certificate

Vanuatu Passport Cost

- 18 – 64 years: 20,000vt
- 65 years upwards: 10,000vt
- Normal processing time: 20,000vt (up to 3 days)
- Express processing time: 30,000vt (up to 1 day)

Vanuatu Passport Renewal Process
There are four types of Vanuatu passports: ordinary, official, diplomatic, and emergency. Once issued, they are valid for 10 years for adults and 5 years for minors. The renewal process is straightforward and requires the submission of:
- The expired or soon-to-expire Vanuatu passport
- A completed renewal application form
- Two recent passport-size photographs
- Proof of identity and citizenship
