Investment & Lifestyle in Portugal (January 15, 2025, Embassy of Portugal, Ankara)

The Portugal Golden Visa program has recently been at the center of discussions, raising questions and creating some misconceptions about its regulations and future outlook. As one of the most popular residency-by-investment programs globally, it continues to attract attention from investors, especially amid evolving policies and legislative changes.

To provide clarity and address these topics, we, as Get Golden Visa, organized a special event hosted by the Embassy of Portugal in Ankara, Turkey. During the session, we explored the latest updates to the program, including regulatory adjustments, investment options, and timelines.

Our goal was to create a platform for transparency and discussion, ensuring investors receive accurate, up-to-date information. This event highlighted not only the continued appeal of Portugal as an investment destination but also the importance of understanding how these changes impact prospective applicants and their strategies.

Virginia Pina, Ambassador of Portugal, Ankara, started the event with a welcome speech.

Celeste Mota, Commercial Counsellor, Embassy of Portugal, Ankara, explained “Why Should You Invest in Portugal” in her speech also mentioning the aspects like quality of life that make Portugal an attractive place.

Murat Coskun, Managing Partner, Get Golden Visa, talked about Portugal Golden Visa, generally explaining the program and the expectations of the investors from it, adding insights highlighting the reasons why Portugal Golden Visa is popular among investors and what makes them invest in Portugal.

Werner Gruner, Regional Partner, Get Golden Visa, put lifestyle real estate and fund investment sectors in Portugal in focus. He stated:

A strategic approach is important considering fund investment for the Portugal Golden Visa. Diversification, achieved through investing in various business sectors, fund types, and management styles, can help mitigate risk.

The Portuguese real estate market also becomes attractive. It suggests that investing in property in Portugal can offer both stability and the potential for growth, making it a compelling option for those seeking a secure investment with long-term benefits.

Madalena Monteiro, Lawyer, Liberty Legal, helped us understand the legal aspects of Portugal Golden Visa and how to navigate the process, describing the program by her statement:

A Portuguese residence permit is be granted, for the purpose of carrying out an investment activity, to third-country nationals who carry out an investment activity in the national territory. It is the legal basis for the Portugal Golden Visa program, offering a pathway to residency for those who contribute to the Portuguese economy through various investment options, ranging from capital transfers to job creation.

We ended our event by having an interactive Q&A Session where we got some valuable insights and answers from the representatives of our event.
