Hello, My wife and I are US citizens and obtained a Golden Visa on the purchase of a piso for €540.000 (purchased in solely my name due to a prenuptial agreement). We now are considering a divorce, which we can still file in the United States. How can my spouse maintain her Golden Visa if we divorce? Do we have to invest another €500.000 in her name to preserve her Golden Visa? Our divorce is amicable, and we can craft the US divorce decree to state whatever is necessary for purposes of any visa issues in Spain.

Hello, thank you for your inquiry. It is true that EU residents and citizens are not allowed to apply for the Spain Golden Visa program.
The basis for being turned down could be due to the fact that (1) you already have residency in an EU-member state, Denmark, or (2) assuming that your EU citizen spouse that was part of your application.
If it is the latter, perhaps not including your spouse in your application may be a way to get around the issue. Having said that this is not a legal opinion.

The residence visa will be renewed initially for 2year term. The residence authorization will be renewed initially for a 5year.

In reply to Azraitter. I had the same question in my mind a week ago. Its simple actually. You can travel freely but you can’t register as a resident in belgium. You can’t stay in another country for more than 3 months with this. To live there you will probably have to get another visa.
