As for finding a lawyer in Greece that can guide someone through this process, what type of lawyer should I search for on the internet? For example, if I want a divorce, I search for a divorce lawyer. If I want a lawyer for taxes, I search for a tax lawyer. What type of lawyer handles citizenship through the Greek Golden Visa?

Hi there. Mum and I moving from New Zealand to the Peloponnese. We’ve put an offer on a property there subject to our NZ property selling. Mum is 67 retired on a pension and I’m currently unemployed getting ready to immigrate by doing up the house etc. We have spoken briefly with the Greek Ambassador here, waiting to hear back from him on our recent questions.
Can someone please simply tell us exactly which visa to apply for and whether to find a Greek lawyer or will our NZ lawyer and the seller’s lawyer be sufficient to legally purchase their house? How do we set up a Greek bank account also please?

Hello Hamad, the property that you acquire needs to be a minimum of €250,000. The construction costs you incur on the property do not count towards the €250,000. Can a person from any country apply? Since I am from Libya, I would just like to verify if there are any countries that have restricted access to the Golden Visa program. Also, it states 250 thousand Euro for a property purchase, does that have to be a prebuilt property, or could I buy land and have a Greek developer build a property, with blue prints I provide, that equates to over the 250,000 Euro threshold?

Dear Lena, you may be eligible for a Golden Visa with a property that you acquired previously. Please check with your lawyer that the value of the transaction was officially recorded above 250,000 Euros and that all other details check.

As a British citizen who already owns a property in Greece, am I now able to apply for the golden visa even though I bought the property a couple of years ago? Would I need to re-invest another €250k in my existing Greek property to qualify – or can I just apply (shortly) after having bought a villa outright two years ago?

After you get your Greek Golden Visa, you should be able to apply for a non-Schengen country visa in their corresponding embassy in Greece. Mind you, you will still need your Vietnamese passport in order for the visa to be issued at.

Hello Phyllida, Greece Golden Visa gives you the right to live in Greece for as long as you want, with no restrictions. However, if you travel in the Schengen area, the Golden Visa card functions as if you have a Schengen Visa. So, that is correct, you are restricted to 90 days of stay each time you enter a non-Greek country in the Schengen. Then, you need to make an exit, before you enter again.

I have a question regarding to Greek residency.

My family and I have almost completed the application for Golden Visa of Greece. We had the property there. Now we are waiting for quarantine to be over in order to finish the rest of the paperwork. So I will soon become a Greek resident.

According to your article, it is not required for the Greek resident to stay in the country.

So my question is if after I become a Greek resident and I want to travel abroad outside Schengen countries, can I use my Greek residency permit to apply for the visa to travel to that destination country? Or do I have to go back to my native country (Vietnam) and apply travel visa from there?

We have found a property that we want to purchase in Greece but have now been told that the sellers are uk citizens and want to be paid in Sterling, will it disqualify us from the visa program if the funds do not go through a greek bank account in euros. We have a greek lawyer and all the legal work is being done in greece.
